Baby Jules ~ A Newcastle Newborn Photography session
I met Carina and Clint when they were first engaged, fresh home from a trip in Fiji. I photographed their engagement here in Newcastle. That was more then 2 years ago. Carina wrote to me when she was 6 months pregnant, ‘we loved what you did with our engagement photos and guess what, we’re pregnant, what do I do to book you for our newborn photography?’ Carina paid a deposit and her due date went into my calendar. Three months later, from the Newcastle Private Hospital Carina sent me a gorgeous iPhone picture of a surprise little man. We rescheduled her session for Jules’s 8th day of life. That is how easy it is to make sure you capture your newborn and not let the ‘whirl-wind’ that is those first few months pass you by.
Carina & Clint arrived at our studio in comfortable block coloured clothing. Block colour refers to the lack of any pattern, logo or stripes that would draw your eye in a photograph. Carina breast fed Jules in our rocking chair, while Clint chose some colour themes. I soothed Jules and wrapped him up in blue and green, which put him into a lovely deep sleep. We changed him into a gorgeous knit romper to finish off with some family portraits.
How long does a session take? Our newborn photography sessions are anywhere from 1.5 to 4 hours. Do we get black and white images? I include black and white copies of all family photos and can do a black and white edits upon request for no extra charge. How many set ups are done in a session? The minimum amount is two colours and one neutral set up, one prop, for example a bed or bowl and family and sibling shots where applicable.
